Single internal door with side screen

The Hartlepool Project focused on creating clear internal separation within the home while maintaining a strong sense of light, flow, and modern design. The homeowners wanted a solution that felt architectural rather than purely functional, using glazing to define spaces without closing them off.

To achieve this, we installed a single aluminium internal door with a fixed side screen, tailored precisely to the proportions of the opening.

Design approach

A single door with side screen configuration was chosen to suit the width of the opening while keeping everyday access simple and unobtrusive. This layout allows the glazed area to extend beyond the door leaf itself, creating a more balanced and visually striking installation than a standard single door alone.

The side screen also ensures the overall design feels intentional and bespoke, rather than scaled down or compromised.

Slim aluminium profiles

The system features slim aluminium profiles designed to replicate a classic steel-look aesthetic while offering the benefits of aluminium construction. Clean vertical and horizontal lines were carefully aligned across the door and side screen to maintain consistency and visual harmony.

This attention to detail helps the installation sit naturally within the surrounding interior, enhancing rather than overpowering the space.

Light, separation, and usability

The hinged door provides smooth, practical daily use, while the fixed side screen allows light to pass freely between rooms. This creates a subtle division that improves functionality, particularly for zoning living spaces, kitchens, or home offices.

The result is a more structured layout without sacrificing brightness or openness.

Finish and specification

The frames were finished in a classic black powder coat, adding contrast and definition while remaining timeless. Toughened safety glass was used throughout, ensuring durability and compliance with internal glazing standards.

High-quality hardware completes the installation, delivering a solid, refined feel that reflects the overall quality of the system.
