Sliding internal doors with side screens
The Majid Project in Yarm focused on introducing a clean, contemporary form of internal separation while maintaining openness and natural light throughout the home. The homeowners wanted a solution that felt architectural and refined, using glazing to define spaces without disrupting flow or visual continuity.
To achieve this, we installed aluminium sliding internal doors with fixed side screens, tailored to suit the proportions of the opening and the layout of the surrounding space.
Design approach
Sliding doors with side screens were selected to maximise usable opening space while maintaining a strong visual structure across the full width of the aperture. The fixed side screens provide balance and symmetry, ensuring the overall installation feels intentional and well-proportioned rather than oversized or minimal.
This configuration allows the sliding panels to move smoothly across adjacent glazed screens, delivering flexibility without sacrificing design integrity.
Slim aluminium profiles and glazing detail
Slim aluminium profiles were used to achieve a steel-look aesthetic with clean, consistent sightlines. Glazing bars were carefully aligned across the sliding panels and side screens, creating a cohesive grid pattern that reinforces the architectural quality of the installation.
This attention to detail ensures the doors feel integrated into the interior rather than added as an afterthought.
Light, flow, and functionality
The sliding door system allows large openings to be created when required, ideal for open-plan living. When closed, the glazing maintains visual connection between spaces while providing acoustic separation and defined zones.
The fixed side screens ensure light continues to travel freely, helping the interior feel open, balanced, and connected at all times.
Finish and specification
Finished in a black powder-coated aluminium, the frames provide a timeless, understated contrast that complements the surrounding interior finishes. Toughened safety glass was used throughout to ensure durability and compliance with internal glazing standards.
Smooth-running sliding hardware delivers effortless operation and a premium feel, even with regular daily use.
The result
The completed installation delivers a refined internal feature that enhances both the layout and visual identity of the home. The sliding doors with side screens create flexibility, structure, and architectural presence without compromising light or openness.
The Majid Project is a strong example of how aluminium internal sliding systems can be used to define space elegantly while preserving flow and usability.
