The Acklam Car Centre project involved delivering a cohesive internal glazing solution across multiple areas of a busy commercial showroom and office environment. The brief was clear: create defined internal zones for staff and customers while maintaining openness, visibility, and a professional, high-end appearance throughout the space.

To achieve this, we supplied and installed a combination of single aluminium internal doors, French internal doors, French doors with side screens, and bespoke fixed internal screens, all designed to work together as a unified system.

Commercial design strategy

In a customer-facing environment such as a car showroom, visibility and spatial clarity are essential. The varied configurations allowed different areas to be tailored to their specific use, from private offices to open consultation areas and circulation spaces.

Single internal doors were used where controlled access and everyday practicality were required, such as staff areas and private offices. French doors were introduced in wider openings to create a more welcoming, open feel while still providing separation when needed.

French doors with side screens were specified in key areas to maximise glazing across larger apertures, delivering a balanced, architectural appearance and improving light distribution throughout the space. Bespoke fixed screens were incorporated to define zones without interrupting sightlines or workflow.

Slim profiles and glazing alignment

Slim aluminium profiles were used throughout to achieve a clean, steel-look aesthetic that complements the modern, commercial interior. Glazing bars were carefully aligned across doors and screens, ensuring consistency across the entire installation.

This attention to detail allows the system to read as one integrated design rather than a collection of separate elements.

Practical performance in a commercial setting

All doors and screens were glazed with toughened safety glass, ensuring durability and compliance with commercial requirements. The hinged doors provide smooth, reliable operation for frequent daily use, while the fixed screens maintain openness and visibility between spaces.

The system improves acoustic separation where needed, supporting more focused conversations and office work without isolating areas visually.

Finish and detailing

Finished in a classic black powder-coated aluminium, the frames provide a professional, timeless appearance that suits the automotive showroom environment. High-quality hardware completes the installation, delivering a robust feel appropriate for a high-traffic commercial space.
